Big Sandy Health Care, Inc. (BSHC) is a private, non-profit corporation established in 1974. In the beginning, the main objective for BSHC was to establish a primary healthcare center in Salyersville, Kentucky that would provide medical services to the residents of Magoffin County. Meanwhile, the start-up of what is now the nationally known Eula Hall Health Center "formerly known as Mud Creek Clinic" began with a community clinic founded by Mrs. Eula Hall. Initially housed in a trailer and supported financially by the United Mine Workers Union, Mud Creek Clinic was located on the remote Tinker Fork of rural Floyd County. After a fire destroyed the original clinic in 1982, Mrs. Hall led fundraising efforts for the construction of a new clinic at its present location in Grethel. With locally raised money and funding assistance from the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Eula Hall Health Center reopened its doors in 1984. Growing community demands required two additional renovations and expansions to the Clinic. The Magoffin County Clinic, now known as Hope Family Medical Center, and the Eula Hall Health Center became part of Big Sandy Health Care at its incorporation.

In 1994, BSHC opened the Shelby Valley Clinic in rural Pike County, Kentucky.  In 2009, BSHC opened the Martin County Community Health Center in Inez, Kentucky.  BSHC now operates four medical clinics - Hope Family Medical Center, Eula Hall Health Center, Shelby Valley Clinic, and Martin County Community Health Center. Big Sandy Health Care did not stop there. Recently, BSHC added a Pharmacy to the Hope Family Medical Center, a dental clinic at the site of the Eula Hall Health Center, an OB/GYN, and a clinic called Physicians for Women Center, located in Auxier, Kentucky.

BSHC provides a wide array of healthcare services to the people in the Big Sandy region and plans to continue the tradition well into the future.
